The Zambia Research Foundation (ZRF) is a Non-Governmental and Non-for-profit Organization registered under the Societies Act, Chapter 105 of the Laws of Zambia.
The Foundation was registered on 7th August, 1987 as a non-partisan organization that offers a forum and medium for social action to the Zambia public on issues of public policy, governance and human development as well as the husbandry of natural resources.
The HIV/AIDS problem continues to have a devastating effect on Zambia. Official statistics estimate that more than 16 percent of adults in the general population are infected with the virus. Aside from the personal tragedy, the implication for health care costs and general economic growth of Zambia are such that the HIV/AIDS pandemic presents the single most challenge in man's struggle for survival.
We hold that it is important to support the three main HIV/AIDS prevention strategies, namely, Public Education and HIV prevention such as abstinence; treatment and prevention of other Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD's) – that if untreated, may facilitate the transmission of AIDS; and the promotion of condom use.
