Amani's objectives are: prevention of organised violence and torture; advocacy for rights of victims and; rehabilitation of torture victims. Amani Trust performs vital functions at this time of crisis in Zimbabwe, by offering health and counselling services to torture victims in Zimbabwe, regardless of their political affiliation, in accordance with the mandate. During the 2002 elections Amani produced a report entitled "Beating your opposition,Torture during the 2002 Presidential campaign in Zimbabwe" The report was released on United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, 26 June 2002. This document was released with affidavit's of more than 180 victims of political violence, many who had been victims of police ill treatment. Other sectors of its operation include Civil Activism; Counselling; Democracy/Good Governance; Education/Training; Health; Human Rights; and Victim Support.
